Arm Lift (Brachioplasty)

General Information

The arm lift is a surgical procedure to help remove excess skin and fatty tissue from the axilla and upper arm. After losing weight and as we age, sometimes the skin along the underside of the upper arm tends to have a loose appearance. An arm lift performed by our San Antonio plastic surgeon—Dr. John Ayala—can help correct this effect.

The Procedure

The procedure is performed under general anesthesia; first, an incision is made starting at the armpit and continuing to the elbow. A significant amount of skin is then removed and finally Dr. Ayala closes the incisions with sutures.

Recovery: What to Expect

There is a short recovery involved in Brachioplasty. You should be able to return to normal activity within seven days.
